Welcome to your first Introduction to Sociology blogging experience!
Because this is your first Activity Posting, the first think you have to do is get set up with your own blog. This blog will be publicly available online to the world, so be sure that you post things that you can feel proud of.
Set up a blog by going to www.blogger.com (or choose some other blogging site if you are already familiar with how this stuff works). There you can quickly and easily create your own new free blog, by logging on using your Google account (provided by MTU). Choose a title and template, and set it up.
You'll then use this blog to submit each of the Activity Posting assignments. Submit each one as a new entry in the blog itself. Then, log into Canvas, and submit the assignment by including the URL to your blog.
Activity Posting 1:Make an entry titled "The Sociological Imagination". In the posting you should include a journal entry that describes at least five things that happened to you or that you did in a day. These should be social phenomena that you generally perceive as natural in your everyday life. Your journal could include notes on the way people greet each other, share public space, eat, and so on. These five things can just be brief observations, but spend 2-4 sentences explaining how they are social. Pick one and think through this one in more detail. For this one, discuss alternative ways your daily life might proceed if this element had been different throughout history. (Example: What if racial divisions in America were based on eye color rather than skin tone?). The entry should be 500-1,000 words.
